Well, whatever you think it is, one thing is for sure: a lot of players think that even though it’s not necessarily a buff for Ryze himself, it made him so much more relevant than he ever was before, to the point of being considered as broken. Like what’s been previously mentioned, Ryze by himself, although a decent damage dealer, is a shadow of his former self if he’s judged as that role. But if you take Ryze for who he is now, a support-AP mage hybrid, then he’s doing very well. Because aside from the fact that Rune Prison can now hold a target for two seconds if said target is affected by Flux, he also has his ultimate skill, Realm Warp, a team teleport skill that takes him and his allies to anywhere within 1500 range. And with a skill that useful utility-wise, you can do so many things, and you can earn a few honor points in your League of Legends account for it.

First and most obviously, ganking. By teleporting at the right spot at the right time, you can catch your enemies off-guard. And with the right heroes, you can give them zero time to prepare by killing them when they’re huddled together. Take Nunu, for example, whose ultimate can be channeled as he is being teleported, and then have the casting finished upon arrival, dealing solid AOE AP damage. Another good use for it is in doing a backdoor move. Can’t get to the enemy’s Nexus because they’re is putting too much lane resistance? Just teleport there! In need of a few more minions for a segue push? Just make sure the minions are within the portal and you can take them with you!
