Recall animations aren’t really something a lot of players pay attention to. But just because it’s not easily noticed doesn’t mean it should be ignored. After all, when it comes to game design, even the littlest of things should be consistent to the quality and artistry of the game’s overall feel. That’s why a lot of champions’ recall animations will be changed: a treat for our nitpicky League of Legends Account owners.
So, how many champion needs their recall animations reworked? Just around 74, as a low estimate. So, why are they doing this in the first place? Well, that’s because new champions have a recall animation that is unique to them. This definitely won’t be fair for the older champions, as their recall animations are more or less the same.
And mind you, this change isn’t going to be small and unnoticeable – ironic, considering the fact that recall animations are hardly noticeable by themselves.

“We explored the option of doing simple poses for the recalls, to account for animation,” said Riot Games. “We felt this option wasn’t quite matching the quality we’d expect for the effort they’d take- we found we wanted more movement in the animations. Taking all these factors into account, we looked for easier implementations – smarter ways to solve the problem.”
More movement – that’s good. Yet at the same time, it’s not exactly an easy feat to pull due to the sheer number of champions that need the fix. And of course, each champion recall animation has to be signature of that champion, or else keen-eyed League of Legends account owners are going to, well, notice. Thankfully, they have a solution that will give champions their unique recall animations without it being too painstaking on their part: using idle animations for them instead. It’s not exactly revolutionary, but it will definitely get the job done.
From the grander scheme of things, recall animations hardly mean anything. But in LoL, the little things make the game a lot more enjoyable. And with this revamp, LoL accounts champions are going to be a bit more special.
