There is one more champion that is going to receive an update (maybe a buff) to establish more identity as tanks. I already shared with you guys Sejuani and Zac. This time around, let us take a look at Maokai. Maokai is another one of the tanks that I love using in my LoL Accounts but sometimes feels underwhelming. Something is missing with Maokai. I don’t know what it is or maybe I’m just bad in using the champion, but still, there is something that could be done with Maokai. With the mid-season changes, hopefully Maokai will bring more impact to the team.
LoL Accounts: Changes
Among the passive and four skills of Maokai, two only got changes. Here they are:
E – Sapling Toss
Maokai flings a sapling to stand watch over an area. Saplings chase nearby enemies, exploding if they come in contact and slowing everything hit.
*update* Saplings placed in bush last longer and deal additional damage over time
R – Nature’s Grasp
Maokai summons a colossal wall of brambles and thorns that advance forward, rooting enemies struck. Root duration increases the farther the wall travels.
I guess Riot hit it on the money on these changes. Primarily, I think Maokai lacks damage. I know, Maokai is supposed to be a tank but with the lack of damage, Maokai brings little to no impact other than the Twisted Advance. Root and slow combo with W and Q, and that’s it. Now with the damage buff on the Sapling, Maokai can be a good zoner in the lane. In addition, with the longer duration when casted on bushes, Maokai brings more vision now which is helpful as a support tank. What makes me even happier with the changes is the R. With that big space covered by Maokai’s ultimate, enemies will take second thoughts in engaging. Maokai can control a vast amount of ground now and with the root to all in the area, teammates can finish enemies off.
Are you happy with Maokai’s changes? Maokai will surely be used more in my LoL account. How about you? Let us know what you think in the comments section below.
